Chose a wide necked dustbin. Drill two rows of drainage holes 1" up from
the base plus a row of air holes around the top.
Place a 4" layer of gravel and/or coarse sand in the base. Add some sort of
divider that will allow drainage, e.g. strips of wood drilled with large holes.
Add a layer of wet newpaper followed by 4:6" of bedding material. Add worms to
bedding. Spread a thin layer of chopped kitchen waste on surface and cover the lot
with thick layer of wet newspaper.
Leave for 1 or 2 weeks to allow the worms to settle in.
As the worms start eating through the waste you can add more. Maintain the wet news-
paper cover to conserve moisture and keep out light. Your worm bin is working.
